Happy Independece Day 2011!

We hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July! We will be remembering those who fought for our wonderful country with a fire-free celebration (due to a burn ban). 

On the menu, homemade ice cream, brownies, strawberry tart, jalapeno burgers, bacon burgers, hot dogs, grilled potatoes and more! What are you doing this wonderful holiday?

I love being patriotic. I love our country. I love our freedom. I love our flag. I love red, blue, & white. I love patriotic music. I love that our country was founded on Christian values & morals. I love my two little firecrackers.

Recipe: Lemonade Cupcakes

In honor of Independence Day, I’m sharing one of my favorite summer treats- Lemonade Cupcakes! These are such a perfect sweet for summer. They come out very moist and a little heavy and are perfect sans frosting! I normally don’t bother with frosting but if I do frost them, I usually use a sour cream frosting recipe. It’s the perfect compliment for this cupcake! Lemonade Cupcakes

1- 6 ounce can frozen lemonade concentrate (thawed)
1 package white cake mix
1- 8 ounce container sour cream
1- 3 ounce package cream cheese
3 eggs

Remove 2 tablespoons of lemonade from the can and discard them. In a large mixing bowl, combine the remaining can of lemonade with the other ingredients. Beat at low until moistened. Beat at high speed for 3 minutes. Spoon batter into lined cupcake pans. Fill 3/4 full.
Bake at 350 for 22 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Our Fabulous 4th of July

We had a great 4th of July! Cayson was feeling so much better - thank goodness! It seems we are always sick around holidays.

I thought I would share a few pictures from the day and then post the link to view all of my pictures. I figure that is the easiest way. You can check out the rest here.

A Patriotic Craft

Seriously, I am so proud of my little project!!! I found this really neat t-shirt idea in Family Fun magazine. You can view the instructions here.

I wanted to try it out so I bought Cayson a white onesie and me a white tank top. I purchased the craft paint and the freezer paper at Walmart. The freezer paper came in a huge roll so it'll last me forever. This would be a fun shirt to do for just about any holiday or celebration. I found my star templates online using google. I pre-washed both shirts and ironed them before ironing on my stencil.

The splatter painting fun!!!The completed project!!! I think they turned out so great. The only problem is I already have a 4th of July outfit for Cayson - so he may have several outfit changes tomorrow. :) I just love patriotic stuff!!!
