Valentine's Day Recap

I clearly remember Valentine's Day of my childhood - we usually delivered baked goodies to our grandparents including my great-grandma. I also remember the little goodies my parents gave us to celebrate ~ I still have a kitty cat mug I got when I was probably 7 or so. I have tried to carry on the tradition of giving the kids sweet little gifts and delivering goodies to others to show love and appreciation. I actually, still have one of my Valentine gifts from my dad... this mug which is probably 20 years old.

We started the morning with gifts... and Momma got roses. I tried a new recipe for donut muffins which turned out pretty good. They were a hit with the kids, for sure! I will say, donuts are better... and more fattening!

Roses from my Valentine!

Dusty had to work so the kids and I used our time to deliver our goodies and Valentines to several widows and widowers including my grandparents.

I love, love, love this picture of the kids with their great-grandma! She was so excited to see them that she ditched her domino match to visit with us. So, sweet!

Dusty and I got to celebrate on Thursday with a trip to the city for shopping and dinner. We planned on seeing a movie but the times were just off for our timing so we drove home and rented a movie to watch in bed. It was a great date and I loved spending time with my Valentine! We're thankful for grandparents who were happy to give us a date day!

The kids had their Valentine parties at CDO on Thursday since school was cancelled on Monday. I did not get a picture of Cayson's Valentines for his friends but he took bubbles. Taryn took these to her friends. I got the printable here for them.

V-Day Prep

The kids have been enjoying prepping for Valentine's Day. Cayson, being our firstborn, takes it so seriously. Saturday morning, he had to start working on his projects first thing (7 am) so he wouldn't have to work all day long. His words, exactly.

He also cracked me up because he knew the days of the week. He reminded me (while I was still attempting to sleep) that Monday was his school Valentine's Day party and it was the 13th so it was only one day before Valentine's Day because it's on the 14th. Whew. He is really fascinated with dates and times. He checks the calendar every day to see what day it is and always tells me what day of the week it is.

Valentine’s Day with the Jarnagins

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine’s Day celebrating with those you love!

I thought I’d share the Valentines the kids handed out at school. Cayson and Taryn both gave the girls Valentines that said “We really click!” and we included a bow on a clicky clip.

For the boys in Cayson’s class, we made Valentine’s for cars since that is a passion of his!

Cayson drove a truck through paint and across the back of the Valentines for a fun touch!

Taryn gave the boys these bags of Teddy Grahams that said “Bear hugs from Taryn”

Valentine's Day Fun

Even though Cayson was sick for Valentine's Day (for the 2nd year). He still had some fun and is enjoying his great gifts.

Nana & Papa stopped by on Wednesday to bring by Cayson's Valentine.
He loved the coloring book! Mickey Mouse!

Valentine's Day, Grandma & Grandaddy brought him this Mickey Mouse balloon - he loves it!
Opening his bubble gun

More Mickey Mouse from Mom & Dad - did I mention that he loves Mickey Mouse?

I am hoping Cayson is on the mend. He is still coughing like crazy and not feeling 100%.

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Our Valentine's Day was disrupted a bit... Cayson is once again, sick, sick, sick. I was up most of the night with him and it was not fun. Hopefully, he will get better quickly. This sick stuff is getting old!

Our Valentine's Day....

Our first Valentine's Day as a "family" didn't go quite how I expected... mostly because Cayson was sick and miserable. I did get some amazing things from my two guys... a message cookie, a new purse (of course!), and gorgeous flowers! I forgot to take a picture of the cookie before Dusty & I dug in!

I wanted to make a nice dinner for us... a simple fare of spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, & tea... the only problem is my sick boy thinks he needs to be held all day and babied... which he probably does! So, I started on the meal in the a.m. to get it done by dinnertime! While finishing up the bread, my dear sick boy decided to eat cat food. While tending him, our house nearly caught fire due to the bread being under the broiler! Here's the yummy bread....
Everything was ready (minus the blackened bread)... the table was set.... and......my sick boy decided he'd had enough and bawled his eyes out. ( I think he was still mad at me for taking the cat food away from him.) So, Dusty got to eat this romantic dinner for one while I bathed Cayson and got him ready for bed. Moral of the story, life changes drastically after kids! Ha! It was still a good day. I'm thankful to have a loving husband and great son!

My little Valentine...

Rebecca came over Sunday afternoon to take some Valentine pictures of Cayson. He was being such a grump so she had her work cut out for her. She was able to get some good ones though! I thought I'd share a few of the pictures to wet your appetite.... I'm keeping some of them under wraps... you will see when you get your Valentine from Cayson! There are a few posted on RM Photography if you want to check those out....
Oh, and his shirt says Single and Lovin' It! :)
