Wednesday Rambles

Here's a quick peek into our summer. I've been in a blogging funk lately - too many other things to do, I guess.

1. I know most already know the happenings around here... like a new baby boy arriving in November! We are all pretty excited about our new little mister.

2.  I used to do "Cayson-isms" - funny things Cayson said. I think it's only fair to have Taryn-isms. She has been coming up with some hilarious stuff lately.

One week while I was doing her hair, she told me, "Mom, I've always wanted a dad named Ryan." Oops... sorry, your daddy is not changing his name, dearest.

"Mom, Daddy's favorite thing to do is playing princesses with me!" - yeah, I'm sure it is. Ha ha.

"My mom is nausage today (like sausage with an "n")."

"Mom, God made me to not be a good picker-upper."

3. I went on a onesie making quest a couple of weeks ago. I think I made 14 boys onesies for gifts, orders and our mister. I still need to stitch a few of ours up to get them finished.

4. We've enjoyed some fun swim days so far this year. Both kids are like little fishies and love to be in the water.

5. Dress up time!

6. The kids and I made a trip to the zoo the other week... we got there for their new 8 am opening time. It was nice to enjoy the animals before it got hot. The kids got to see a lot of their favorite animals too. This is the caracal - one of Cayson's favorites.

7. We've enjoyed several events at the library this summer. On this day, they had someone bring in animals and talk about them. The kids got to pet a snake, hedgehog, rabbit, ferret and skink.

8. We've made sure to stay cool with lots of ice cream, ICEES, snow cones and pop sickles!

9. We had a nice, relaxing 4th of July that included our own bicycle parade, pop-its, a cookout and fireworks.

10. This baby boy is growing! Today, I am officially 23 weeks so this picture is a little old. I went to the doctor yesterday for a check up and was told that he is HUGE! Measuring 3 weeks ahead. Yikes! We'll do a couple of growth scans to track his size over the next couple of months.

 11. We got the opportunity to pick corn again this summer. We've enjoyed grilling our fresh, sweet corn!

And so it ends

We closed the chapter on Cayson's t-ball career last Friday. He played his final game as he'll move on to coach pitch next year. It was bittersweet for me... it will be nice to have those two extra nights a week free but I also loved watching him play and enjoy the game.

He's had some majorly good hits the last few games... getting the ball up over the pitcher.

Dusty handed out the medals to all of the kids... our head coach was gone so Dusty took on the job.

My proud boy!

The 2013 Red Sox T-ball team- Cayson was lucky to have four friends from church on his team this year.

Little Fish

Ignore the color of our pool floor - it got discolored when we opened it this year. :(

Besides, there are cute little fish in our pool! Cayson loves to do his flips underwater and I was able to capture a few with the waterproof camera. His swimming lessons really helped remind him how to swim. It's crazy how much they forget over the winter.

Taryn is getting braver as far as jumping into the pool goes. She started out too scared to jump in and now she is freely jumping in by herself.

We hope everyone else is staying cool! Today, we opted for a morning swim to beat the extreme heat. This old pregnant momma can't handle the heat like I normally do.

Car Show Fun

Our little town always hosts a sweet car show on Father's Day weekend that we enjoy attending. Free entertainment! The festivities start on Friday evening with a cruise followed by the car show on Saturday. We watched part of the cruise on Friday evening and then attended the car show on Saturday. Cayson is so car crazy... he loves, loves, loves his Matchbox cars and is in love with Mustangs and hot rods. He was in little boy heaven!

Dusty and I left our wedding in a red GTO convertible similar to this blue one.

The kids thought it was great posing in front of all the neat cars.... might be perfect for a calendar, right?

Taryn found all of the pink cars! This one was especially gorgeous!

Splash Pad Days

Summer has officially hit when we spend our mornings playing with friends at the splash pad! It is free fun that allows us moms to visit and catch up. We went twice last week with friends.

Taryn and Merritt had fun splashing and playing in the puddles.

The girls also enjoyed sunning themselves together.

Day 2 at the Splash Pad with the Kelley family.

Cayson is somewhere under that barrage of water! The big bucket dumping is a kid favorite.... though Taryn tends to avoid it!

I see many more days spent playing at the splash pad this summer!

Fishing Fun

Memorial Day weekend, we were able to meet Dusty's parents at the lake so Cayson could get a chance at fishing with Papa. He has been requesting a fishing trip and it worked out perfectly. Both kids had a blast and it turned out to be fairly quiet at the lake.
Ready to fish

Papa's fishing buddy

A nearby fisher caught a turtle and the kids thought it was the greatest thing. Taryn asked Dusty to snap a picture of her with the turtle. Love her pose.

Papa & Nana had a great climbing tree at their campsite and the kids were crazy about it. Cayson even chose to eat his lunch up in the tree.

I am attempting to get a little bit caught up on blogging... slowly!

T-Ball Season

Soccer season ended and was closely followed by t-ball season. We are in the midst of twice weekly games for the month of June. Cayson is loving t-ball! Dusty is an assistant coach which equals awesome bonding time for the boys!

The only snafu we have run into this season was that Cayson's name was misspelled on his shirt - it said "Carson." Thankfully, the t-shirt shop remedied the situation and he is back to "Cayson."

The boys have some awesome cheering sisters... who occasionally sit still long enough to watch a few minutes of the game.
