A Snow Day

Funny, we got a little snow today with more to come but I am blogging about last week's snow today! I realize I'm quite behind in the blogging world. Honestly, our lives have been a bit boring lately with not much to blog about!

Though we were all suffering from colds last week, the kids talked me into letting them play in the snow a bit. Snow is such a rare treasure in western Oklahoma and I hated for them to miss out on the opportunity to enjoy it's cold fluffiness. We played a short while before rushing back inside for some hot chocolate.

I tested out my new tripod and remote for a group shot. Did you know you can buy an inexpensive remote on Amazon? I think I spent $7 for this one. Now, the tripod was a more pricey Christmas gift from Dusty but it works great with DSLR cameras!

Hot chocolate time! Taryn, crazy enough, is not a fan of hot chocolate. I gave her a bit but she barely touched it. Cayson, on the other hand, is a HUGE fan!

Tuesday 10- The First of 2013!

1. Here are a few phone pictures of Taryn's actual birthday... her peppermint ice cream from lunch at the "ice cream place" aka Braums. She wore her crown she made in Sunday School for our trip to the city while flipping through her new Gigi book.

Phone pics of the birthday ice skating adventure!

2. Taryn has just a little bit of personality... I know it's hard to tell!

 3. Cold weather means my cooped up kids are going stir crazy. Inside football games have ensued. Taryn has become VERY good at tackling Cayson. Like, seriously good.

 4. I made a few onesies for a dear friend's baby shower. The tie onesie was hung on a banner we made for the shower.

I can't believe I didn't take any pictures at the shower. It was a cute shower and the banner turned out adorable... here's a pic of the banner in Colt's room. We hung the tie onesie in the middle for the shower.

5. I have been working on a certain princess' sweet birthday party. It has been fun to plan - expect lots of pink!

6. We made a trip to Dusty's parents' to celebrate some birthdays. Snapped this pic of Dusty being a goober like usual.

7. I started making this homemade hot chocolate recipe. Wowza... life changing stuff right there.

Cayson's not complaining either... that is one happy boy with his whipped cream topped hot chocolate.

8. We finally had some warmer weather when we were at home and Cayson was able to play on his EZ Roller and pogo stick. He loves them both!

9. I got to spend time in this "Radiology Suite" today. Ha ha. I think it's funny that it has a fancy schmancy name. Got some x-rays done on my back to see what all is going in there. I have been having some terribly back issues  where by the end of the day I can barely move. Hopefully, a little physical therapy will be the answer to get me back to where I need to be.

10. I guess it is fitting that #10 is about our ten year anniversary. We celebrate 10 years of married life mid-March. We just booked a little outing to NYC to celebrate. I'm so over-the-moon excited. I have always wanted to explore NYC! Please, please, please send me your restaurant and tourist recs... I would love to hear about them!!!

Our 3 Year Old Princess

Taryn turned 3 last Sunday (the 30th). It's so crazy to me that she is three already. Time sure does fly, as we all know!

We got up early to open gifts before church.

Taryn was excited to get a Cinderella dress and cheerleader costume. She now fully believes she is a Thunder Girl and has been swishing her hair all week long.

Dusty went to get donuts for breakfast and after three stops, he finally found some! Apparently, Sunday is the wrong day to get donuts. Taryn was happy with her chocolate round.

We went to church and ate lunch at Taryn's choice - "the ice cream place" aka Braum's. She was excited to eat with Granddaddy and Grandma AND she got a birthday phone call from Papa while we were there which made her beam.

After a little nap time, we headed to the city for Taryn's requested ice skating. This trip to ice skate was cold! We bundled the kids up in their snow pants and many layers which seemed to work great. They had good padding for their falls and it kept their pants from getting wet. Score.

We ate dinner at Texadelphia (again). Taryn wanted Fuzzy Tacos but they were way too busy so maybe next time. We finished the birthday day off with a trip to Pinkitzel for cupcakes! Woot-woot!

Oh, I guess we technically finished the day off with a trip to Target... you know, because I cannot go to the city without a little Target shopping.

So, the girl is now three and her party is coming up... I am, like usual, a bit delayed in throwing it. It's nice to get over the holiday rush and crash before we throw a fun birthday party. But, beware, a big, pink, princess birthday party is in the works!

Snow Days

Yes, we were lucky to be blessed with some decent snow on Christmas Day and get a second wind of snow two days later! The kids fully enjoyed some quality playtime in the snow. The day after Christmas, we spent some time out in it and it was freezing cold!!!

I took the kids out a couple of days later and it was much nicer... with snow falling.

They got a kick out of playing on the snowy play set.

Taryn loved making snow angels... even making them on the kitchen floor after we came inside. :)

Snow balls... or snow chunks? were thrown.

Granddaddy taught the kids how to use a shovel to "sled" down the driveway. Redneck sledding, I suppose.
