I thought I'd share a couple of my super easy sauces. One is a pizza sauce that I usually make on Sunday nights and the other is a delicious Alfredo sauce that you can serve on any type of pasta.
We love to put the pizza sauce on the pre-made refrigerated crusts, refrigerated dough (like Pillsbury), or make pizza-dillas with tortillas! This recipe originated from Blossom Adler and I got it from Mom.... growing up, we'd make English muffin pizzas for lunch by toasting the English muffin, spooning some sauce on it and then topping it with cheese and pepperoni. Then we'd just pop into the oven until the cheese was good and bubbly. Hmmm... this is sounding very good since it's almost noon!
Anyway, back to the pizza sauce.... I've made a few changes to the original recipe so feel free to adjust to your likes. Okay.... here's the "recipe"... you're going to love this one because it's sooooo easy! I usually make half of the recipe unless I want to save some for later in the week. I think this is great alternative to ordering in pizza and frozen pizzas.
Pizza Sauce
2 8 oz cans of tomato sauce
1/2 T oregano
1/2 t rosemary
1/2 t thyme
1/4 tsp pepper
Mix and serve! How easy is that? No cooking involved in this sauce. Oh, and if you're in a hurry, you can just season the tomato sauce with Italian Seasoning.
Okay, the second sauce is a super easy Alfredo sauce. I usually half this recipe as well... it still makes plenty for the two of us. We usually have leftovers which I use to make Alfredo pizza for lunch the next day using the pre-made personal size crusts.
Alfredo Sauce
1/4 cup butter
2 T corn starch
1 t salt
1 qt. half & half
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
1/2 garlic powder (approximately)
In medium skillet, melt butter. In a large bowl, whisk cornstarch and salt into half & half. Add to butter and cook over medium high heat stirring with a whisk. When it begins to boil, remove from heat. Add cheese and stir until melted. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Oh, this is a super healthy sauce by the way. That's why it's so tasty!
