Cayson turns 6! A Cowboy Birthday Party

We celebrated Cayson turning 6 several weeks ago with a western themed birthday party fit for a cowboy! We had the perfect location for the party - my sister and brother-in-law's horse barn. Lucky for us, the Oklahoma weather was beautiful.

I didn't plan any activities besides the horse rides. I know how little boys just love running around playing with each other and that is exactly what they did! We were going to do a bon fire and let them roast their hot dogs but I decided it may be a little chaotic to keep everyone safe.

The menu consisted of hot dogs, baked beans, cowboy caviar, chips, s'mores bars, cupcakes and cake. The amazing cake was made by my mother-in-law. It was the centerpiece of the table!

I ordered the party supplies through Zulily for a great deal! They are made by Meri Meri. I completely forgot to put the cupcake toppers on the cupcakes after I put them out. That is one detail that keeps bothering me!

The birthday boy thoroughly enjoyed his horse ride!

These two little sisters waited so patiently for their turn on the horse.

All in all, it was an awesome time! Beautiful weather with great friends and family!

Princess Party Galore!

A belated post on Taryn's princess party bash.... We had a ball and I loved using lots and lots of pink! I started with the princess party supplies by Meri Meri which I bought at a nice discount from Zulily. After that, I just added lots of pink!

Aren't these little girls darling? Taryn had such a blast playing with all of her friends!

My mother-in-law and sister-in-law made the awesome cake! Taryn picked this one from my Pinboard of cake possibilities. I made the "skirt" to go around the cake stand.

There was an abundance of pink sweets for all with strawberry cupcakes, heart shaped marshmallows, taffy, princess cookies, suckers, malt balls, M&Ms and cake! Whew!

The proud 3 year old princess - she was excited to wear the birthday ribbon I made.

It is hard to believe our princess is 3 already! It is crazy how time flies.

Princess Party Sneak Peek

Life has been interesting, busy, crazy, laid-back, fun and everything in between over the past couple of weeks. We did throw a very pink princess birthday this weekend and I had to share a couple of pictures this Monday morning. More to come soon!

Police Party Fun!

We celebrated Cayson's 5th birthday in true blue police style on Saturday. Despite many obstacles, it happened and was a blast! The party was supposed to be at our house but our driveway (which was supposed to be finished) looked like this making it impossible to reach our backyard. Big time bummer.

We improvised at the very last minute and held the party down the street on my parents' big driveway. It turned out perfectly and the kids had a blast which is the most important thing. We did have several people stop, thinking we were having a garage sale. We are redneck, I guess!

I set up a target practice board for the boys to shoot Nerf guns at. It was just the backside of our baseball beanbag game from two years ago.

The menu was fun and simple. Peanut butter & jelly sandwiches for the kids and Italian shredded beef sandwiches for the adults. We had chips and a veggie tray along with lemon cupcakes (courtesy of my mother in law) and quadruple chocolate cupcakes. A police party wouldn't be complete without a donut cake! Ha ha.

The bunting was made using a thrift store found shirt and some double fold bias tape from my stash. I used hot glue and fabric glue to attach... didn't even bust out the sewing machine for this project!

All of the boys had a blast just running around chasing each other with guns. So, not politically correct, I know. It wasn't the plan but oh, well. That's our life with a police daddy.

A special thanks to my parents who willingly let us take over their front yard. My dad and Dusty worked hard Saturday morning to get everything ready. Dusty's parents were sweet to bring tables and chairs along with delicious lemon cupcakes! We are lucky to have such great family and friends!
