Disgruntled Customer - Taryn's 1st Haircut

I scheduled Taryn for a trim today to even up her hair. She has been so excited and enthusiastic to go visit "Goldie" (our super awesome stylist). The minute we walked into the salon, she turned into a very disgruntled little customer. She was not happy about sitting in the chair and acted downright ugly. I finally had to hold her on my lap to get her cooperation.

Seeing as she has wispy, fine hair, it only took about 5 minutes total for her trim. She has been happily telling every person she meets today that she got a haircut. Ha ha. I have no process pictures since she was on my lap.

Boot Camp Week

Spring break is going to be a "blast" around here.... I am doing potty training boot camp with this independent, stubborn girl starting tomorrow morning. She is very excited about her princess panties thought I could have kicked W@lm@rt when I went to buy them today and they do not carry them in toddler sizes! I had to go ahead and buy whopping size 4 for her because she was set on princess panties. I might have to safety pin them to keep them on her.

Anyway, it should be interesting around here this week... please pray for us.... and send Dr. Pepper and chocolate!

Views from Taryn's Minnie Mouse Birthday Party

My sister sent me the pictures she took of Miss T's Minnie Mouse birthday party! I love them! We are sooooo blessed to have a talented rockstar photographer in the family!

Taryn was surrounded by many of her cousins, her bff, and much of our families. It was a special day to celebrate her!

My grandpa - still silly at 86 years young!

You can check out the details of the decor and menu here.

Terrific 2's for Miss Taryn!

We celebrated our girl on Friday as she turned two. It was bittersweet... saying goodbye to 1 and hello to toddlerhood.
The little miss was pleased to discover a tiny bicycle and helmet waiting for her and her big brother was more than happy to "teach" her how to use it.

She was happy to feast on donut holes and a banana for breakfast!

She adores her new Daisy Duck and insisted on taking it everywhere we went.

We had unseasonably warm temps for Taryn's birthday this year. It's hard to believe it was snowing the eve of her birth and there was snow on the ground when we left the hospital with our bundle! Back, to the warm weather, we headed to the zoo to take full advantage. I don't think it will often be mid-60's on December 30!

Taryn LOVED the zoo! She fully embraced everything about it - running ahead, waving at all the animals, oohing and aahing. It was perfect!

After the zoo, we did a little shopping and then took our birthday girl to Sara Sara Cupcake to get a birthday cupcake! They were sweet enough to add the candle for her to blow out. These next two pics are so sweet to me.

Word that describe Taryn: Sassy, stubborn, adorable, motherly, active, sweet, loving, dramatic, pouty, energetic, center of attention, independent

Loves: Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, cars, harassing her brother, eating, playing pirates, Grandma and Granddaddy, animals, Princesses, "school," her friend, Gracie, dancing and singing, jumping, shoes, watching Mickey Mouse, bath time.

Halfway to 2?!?

June 30th marked 18 months for our Miss Taryn! I cannot believe she is half-way to 2. She is quite the feisty thing and we love her crazy personality to death!

Taryn adores her family and is Cayson's shadow. She sweetly calls "Mommy!" "Daddy!" when she wakes up. I love to see her run to greet her daddy when he comes home.

When I snapped these pictures for her year and a half birthday, she climbed up in a booster seat to proudly grin at me and drink from MY bottle of water. She things she is so big!

At her check up last week she weighed in at 23 lbs, 4 ounces. She was in the 25-50th percentile for weight and 50-75th for height. She grew 2.75 inches in less than 3 months!

She expands her vocabulary daily and is always surprising us with new words and phrases. I am hoping and crossing my fingers that as her vocabulary expands, her tantrums will cease. The tantrums and fits are about to do this momma in! I don't know if it's girl drama or if it's Taryn's personality... but I'm afraid we will be in for it come the teenage years!

Taryn has become extremely attached to her pacifier lately due to her teething. Today, we started the weaning process of eliminating the pacifier. It was a tough day for us all! We are eliminating the pacifier except for naps and bedtime and eventually we'll completely eliminate it.

Taryn is all about dressing up these days... it's not unusual to find her wearing several outfits around her legs. She really loves to put Cayson's underwear on! She's pretty good about pulling her legs through them. She's becoming opinionated about her clothing and hair accessories and LOVES shoes. Shoes is a word she definitely can say clearly.

We love our sweet pea, Taryn, and are excited to see her grow but I'd love to keep her as my sweet little baby!

Happy Birthday, Taryn!

At 1:40 pm on December 30, 2009, our sweet pea, Taryn Montine, entered this world with much fanfare. She weighed in at 7 lbs, 6 oz.

Now she is a busy little girl who is very close to walking and is the proud owner of 5 teeth! She now weighs an even 17 lbs (almost 10 lbs over her birth weight)

She has blessed our lives this year and we look forward to many years to come!

Say it isn’t so… 11 months already?

I mentally cannot wrap my mind around the fact that my baby is less than a month away from being one! I seriously cannot believe it… of course, her petite stature makes it even harder for me to comprehend.

 IMG_6318

She is a teething monster… her top two teeth are soooo close. One is just bulging through her gums and causing lots of discomfort for the poor thing.

IMG_6320

Taryn, like her brother, loves to EAT! She gobbles up nearly anything we offer her and is a bottomless pit. I’ve still kept her on a fairly simple diet so far but we will start experimenting more after she turns one.

IMG_6323

This month has brought full-on temper tantrums. I’m not exactly sure how to address these at this age. She throws her whole body back onto the ground, arches her back and SCREAMS at the top of her lungs. She is definitely full of drama!

IMG_6324

You know her brother HAD to be a part of the photo shoot… along with “his” Minnie Mouse (actually mine from our honeymoon to Orlando)

IMG_6327

As always, Taryn is still super active. She has learned to look up to discover more things to explore. She reaches into drawers, opens drawers & cabinets and pulls down anything within her reach. She has also figured out how to climb and utilizes whatever she can find to climb on to reach whatever it is her heart desires.

IMG_6328

Taryn LOVES her brother and he adores her! She lights up when she spots him and he can get the best laughs from Taryn! She loves playing with Cayson – usually to his dismay as she likes to pick up his cars when he’s trying to stage elaborate crash scenes.

Happy 11 months, sweet girl!!! This year has flown by and I can’t wait to see the young lady you will become! You are loved by many!!! Now, mommy needs to get to work planning a birthday party….
