Cayson's First October 31!

Cayson survived his first Halloween - costume and all! He was a good sport today! We started the day in his Halloween pajamas that Nana & PaPa bought him. Then he wore his kitty Halloween outfit for play and then was of course, a caterpillar for Halloween. We went down the the police department this evening to see Dusty and eat with him and to show him off to the everyone down there. Then we met Courtney & Brayden at my grandparents' house. The boys were both so tired and they just sat on the sofa leaning on each other and staring off. It was funny! Poor boys getting forced to wear huge puffy costumes by their mommas. Lastly, we went to my parents' so they could love on Cayson. By this time, he was getting tired so we called it a night! I got lots of good pictures so I just put them all into a slide show to make it easiest on everyone! Enjoy!

Thank you Daddy!!!!

Dusty put Cayson's swing up yesterday in the big tree in our backyard. It took a lot of work to do it too - it involved climbing waaayyy up in the tree and making chains to reach the level of the swing, etc. Thank you!!!!!!

Cayson tried out the swing and as usual, he was fairly indifferent to the experience. We got a few smiles out of him though. I took him out to swing today and he really enjoyed it.

We love family & friends!

We had a weekend full of family & friends. It was so much fun - and very busy!

Our weekend started Thursday evening (Dusty's first day off) with dinner with Dusty's parents, Stephen, & Morgan. Cayson got some cuddle time with Nana & PaPa.

I was busy on Friday doing all kinds of things around the house and running around. Cayson & I worked at State Farm during the lunch hour so Joe could run errands. Then we went to Eat 'em Up Eagles at BancFirst with Dusty, Mom, & Dad for some $1 hot dogs. Friday night, Cayson spent the night with his Granddaddy & Grandma while I went to the WHS game with Dusty. Dusty worked as security for the game. It was soooo cold!

Saturday morning, Dusty & I did some running around. He went to work at 2 and then I went to the Howells' to see my dear friend, Lindsey, and her adorable twin boys (oh, and her husband, Chris!). They were visiting from Norman. It was the first time for Cayson to meet the boys. They were so cute... and the boys were all color coordinated. It was funny that they were all dressed in the same clothing collection! These are the miracle babies that I've probably mentioned - they were born February 13, but their due date was March 8 (the same as Cayson). It's so amazing what they've been through and all that God has done with them.

I guess we were boring - the boys crashed out! Saturday evening I went to Miss Southwestern with my best friend, Michelle, from Norman. I said it was my weekend to see my Norman friends! It was great to hang out with Michelle. My sister was the co-director of the pageant and it went so smoothly. She did a great job!

Sunday morning we went to church and then lunch. Dusty went to work at 2 p.m. Cayson & I went out to my grandparents' house for my Uncle Randy's birthday. Cayson got to play with Brayden and get lovins from everyone. Cayson kept trying to suck on Brayden's head. They were a hoot together!

Sunday was Cayson's 6 month as well. Here's the obligatory picture.

That pretty much sums up our weekend. It was fun to see everyone and we are hoping to see Cody, Holly, & Baby Luke this coming weekend~ You guys better come to Weatherford!!!!

Here's what can happen...

...when you make homemade baby food.... especially sweet potatoes.
That's right, sweet potatoes on the ceiling!!!! Oh, and it was in my hair, on my face, clothes, cabinets, and floor! But I saved $$$ by making our own baby food. :)

We have a crawler!

Cayson started really getting around last night when he became determined to get my newspaper. He's been scooting around, but last night was much more like a crawl/lunge. Guess I need to start baby-proofing the house!

35+ t-shirts? Crazy!

My dear husband decided to clean out his chest of drawers and closet on Sunday and do some purging. After sorting through his very cramped closet and drawers, he compiled a large pile of clothes to get rid of. I was amazed that he had an assortment of 35+ t-shirts to get rid of! Who has that many t-shirts that they don't wear? My husband! He also got rid of probably about 10 other types of shirts. So, he cleared out about 45 shirts. Guess what?!? His closet and chest of drawers are not empty.... they still are quite full. So, here is my deal - you might think that I love clothes and have a large selection, but I'd like to point out that my husband has a large wardrobe.

While "purging," he found his vintage Katt t-shirt that belonged to his brother in high school. Dusty thinks he needs to hang on to this one. It has holes all over it and the screen print is faded. Here he is modeling his vintage shirt.

Happily Ever After...

We had a busy weekend in Oklahoma City. We had Julee Rice & Josh Greenan's wedding. I was a bridesmaid so we went to the city on Friday. We did a little bit of shopping, checked into our hotel and then headed to the rehearsal. They had the rehearsal dinner at Pearl's Lakeside. It was awesome and fun! Cayson wasn't crazy about the noise level and was sleepy.

We had a rough night Friday because Cayson was soooo hyper. He did not want to go to bed. He has never done this before so we weren't sure what to do. He finally went to sleep and then I was up for 2 hours unable to sleep! Saturday morning came early. I had to get up at 6 a.m.! Our hair appointment was at 7 and it was all the way on the other side of the city.

The wedding went smoothly and was so beautiful. It was at Walnut Creek Wedding Chapel. The chapel takes care of all the details. It sure eases the stress. Now Josh & Julee can live happily ever after.... Congratulations guys! Hope you have a wonderful honeymoon!

Cereal time...

Cayson has a fascination... it is food. I'm afraid he might be destined for obesity... okay, just kidding. He does have a fascination with food. He will just watch us intently while we eat. He will try to grab our food, plates, silverware, drinks, etc.

Tonight I decided to try Cayson on cereal. He loved it! He actually took the spoon from me once and shoved it in his mouth. He opened his mouth like a little bird every time the spoon got near his mouth. He cried when I finished - he wanted more! Here are a few pictures from his first cereal experience.

Sweet Pumpkin Pie

We went to the Corn Maize tonight to get some pumpkins. It was a great opportunity for pictures! We took Flat Stanley with us too. Here are the pictures!

Cayson got his own little pumpkin which he enjoyed playing with.

Boo!!!

Here's a video of Cayson while I play peek-a-boo with him.

Looking forward to another weekend...

Our weekend started on Thursday. Dusty's days off this month are Thursday & Fridays. Thursday evening he was hired by SWOSU to work security at the Amberlin/Switchfoot concert and he was hired by WPS to work security at the high school football game on Friday night. It kind of stinks to work his two nights off, but the pay is excellent for security and I got to hang out with him some at the concert. I'll post a separate blog about Switchfoot when I get the pictures from my sister so I'll skip that for now.

Friday night Cayson & I went to the football game with hopes of watching it. Cayson had other plans though. He was fussy - I decided he was tired and it was soooo noisy. After only 20 minutes, we left. It was a good thing I didn't have to pay to get in! I was disappointed that I didn't get to stay. I came home and had a girly night of Tivo-ed TV and popcorn.

Saturday morning we got up bright and early and hit the garage sale trail. I found a few treasures... I only spent about $6 and probably more than that in gas. We had planned on going to a pumpkin patch, but Dad wanted to put in our "new" refrigerator. (He & Mom upgraded so we got their fridge.) It was a little more complicated than expected- it involved removing doors on both our old fridge and the new one. We now have a nice "new" refrigerator with crushed ice!!!!!

We decided to rush to Colony to the pumpkin patch there before Dusty had to go to work. Well, we found out that it was not opened this year. So, it was a wasted drive and we didn't have enough time to go to the one at the maize.

Cayson & I went to the Lady family reunion (my grandpa Kitchens' mom's family) in Clinton with Mom. Cayson got to hang with his cuz, Brayden. They were pretty much the center of attention while they were there. Of course they are so handsome and hard to ignore!

The got to play on the swings - Cayson's first time actually.
Here's Cayson with Great-Grandpa Kitchens
Sunday, Cayson and I went to Carnegie to celebrate Kim's 30th birthday.... it was so much fun. Robin, Stephen, & Louise had a great production for her that involved a hilarious poem for each year along with a gift about an event in that year... so she had 30 gifts to open and 30 poems were read to her. It was a riot!
Cayson got to play with PaPa and was quite fascinated by the magnets on the refrigerator.
I think that about wraps up our weekend in short.... we are now looking forward to the next one! Hopefully we will have some pumpkin pictures to post!

Cayson the Caterpillar

I got Cayson's Halloween costume in the mail the other day. I had debated between an octopus and caterpillar. I finally decided on the caterpillar. It is so adorable. Rebecca came over and took some pictures of Cayson in it. They turned out great! I put them on a slideshow and there are a lot. I love the different expressions and angles. Dusty keeps saying, "Poor Cayson" and "Your Mother" as in I am crazy.

Our Little Drummer Boy

Cayson has figured out how to bang on the table.... oh boy. He can't stand to sit in our laps at the table without banging his hands on the table. Here's a video of the drummer boy...

Flat Stanley

I know you are all thinking, "Another post? Sarah, get a life!" Well, I had a little extra time this evening so I thought I would post about a project I am working on.

My friend, Holly, sent me Flat Stanley. A 3rd grade class in Rockwall, Texas just finished the book, Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. Their project is for each student to send out their own Flat Stanley to friends and family across the United States and even the world. Here is Angel's summary of the story:
"The book Flat Stanley is about a boy named Stanley who is accidentally squished as flat as a pancake when his bulletin board falls on him during the night. Stanley is very very flat but otherwise fine. The story goes on to tell how Stanley discovers some real advantages to being flat. The can slide under doors, go down into an envelope and be mailed to California for an exciting vacation."

Flat Stanley arrived at our home last Friday. We are to treat as a guest and take him to see the sites in our town. We are supposed to jot down facts about our city and tell about his stay. They love for us to send pictures and postcards.

So far, we've taken him to tour the police department. We are hoping to take him to the Stafford Air & Space Museum, the Corn Maize, and the windmills before sending him on to another host.

Here are a couple pictures from the police dept.
