Meeting a famous blogger

Dusty was extremely sweet and took me to the Pioneer Woman cookbook signing… if you have never heard of the Pioneer Woman a.k.a. Ree Drummond a.k.a. PW. She has a very popular blog that features Recipes, Confessions, Homeschooling, Home & Garden, and Photography sections. One of the best parts? She’s a fellow Oklahoman! She is starting up a book tour for her recently released cookbook, The Pioneer Woman Cooks: Recipes from an Accidental Country Girl.

Dusty and I arrived at the location an hour and a half before she was to start signing books. The line already stretched out the door of the bookstore! Before long, the line had grown to several hundred people behind me! So crazy! My great friend, Michelle, came to get her chance to meet the Pioneer Woman too and Dusty was sweet enough to hold her a spot in line.

We still had to wait an hour once PW arrived to get to the front…. I think Michelle and I were both giddy and nervous… we could barely talk. Ree did touch my baby belly! I told her I was indeed pregnant which made her laugh and get a little embarrassed due to this post.  She also complimented Dusty for being a wonderful husband and hanging around… by the way, he was a bit excited because as he lingered around the store while we were in line, he got to talk to her famous husband a.k.a. Marlboro Man along with other members of her family/entourage. I think he was a bit star struck as well.

Isn’t she beautiful? She was soooo sweet!

It was an awesome experience and totally worth 2 1/2 hours of standing in line!

Homecoming Parade 2009

I took Cayson to his 3rd SWOSU Homecoming parade Saturday. He was so excited, he could barely nap. He slept less than an hour and woke up telling me, “I did it, Mommy!” As in- I took a nap so it’s time for the parade. I had told him we were going to the parade after his nap… stinker took the shortest nap in history.

He got to see one of his favorite people – Kourtney!  SWOSU Homecoming 2009 010 SWOSU Homecoming 2009 019

Pink is Precious!

I am constantly oogling baby girl things… so I thought I’d share again some of the adorableness!

I always swooned over these booties when Cayson was an infant… I looked at the cream and brown pairs at a local shoe store and the sales girl busted my bubble by saying she thought they were for girls. RobeezBooties

These precious Mary Janes make me giddy! Aren’t they darling? RobeezMaryJane

Maybe shoes are on my mind (imagine that?)! Because I am loving these!gp641388-00p01v01

Joy’s Hope on etsy has the cutest flowers & headbands… I love the baby one but I also adore the ones for Momma!

If you haven’t guessed, I love crocheted hats and big bows…. I ran across an amazing seller - SweetSavannahBaby on etsy and love just about all her hats!

Here’s the bedding I’m dying to get… I like that it’s not overly girly since baby girl will be sharing a room with Cayson and the greens & blues match perfectly!

I am sure I’ll have more of these posts… I’m enjoying relishing baby girl stuff.

Our “Yiddle” Boy

Apparently, Cayson does not want to be a big boy… he prefers to be a “yiddle” (little) boy. If I mention something about his big boy underwear, he corrects me with, “No, yiddle boy underwear.” If someone asks him if he’s a big boy, he responds with, “No, Cays yiddle boy.” It really cracks me up. He is eager to sleep in his big boy bed though… he asks at least once a day. He wants baby to come sleep in his bed so he can sleep in the big bed.

He is very excited for his baby sister to arrive. He likes to talk into my belly button to her… he even holds Minnie Mouse to my belly button so she can talk to baby sister. He told her to come out the other day and wanted me to move my skin so he could see her. Life is hilarious around here… can’t you tell? Last night when I asked him what he wants to name her, he replied with “Jesus.” Hhhmmm…. let me think about that one…

I told Cayson she will probably be here around Christmastime so when Mom asked him what he wants for Christmas, he gleefully replied, “A baby!!!!” Think he’ll change his tune after she makes her grand appearance?

Cayson’s Sunday School lesson was about Zacchius so I went over his take-home paper with him and sang the Zacchius song with him. Later, I asked him who his story was about- who climbed the tree, and he replied with something that resembled the name Zacchius. Isn’t it amazing what they retain? We can still ask him, and he remembers the story.

Last week, we were eating hot dogs at an event at our bank and Cayson pointed to the stop sign and said, “stop sign, 8 sides.” Wow! I asked if he knew what shape it was and he responded with, “Oct-gon” (octagon). Now when we pull up to a stop sign, instead of saying, “stop sign", he points and says, “Oct-gon.” The toddler mind is an amazing thing!

As you can guess, he is constantly coming up with things… I am trying to use this blog to document it because I rarely write in his journal. I know I forget half of the Cayson-isms but I am trying to keep up with them!

Brrrr…Pumpkins!!!!

Saturday afternoon, we kept with tradition and went to pick out pumpkins. We went to P_Bar Farms this year to get them…. it was freezing cold and windy so we made it a quick stop. Cayson was mad because he doesn’t like his winter coat… he kept telling us “Case not like this.” He stated that he wanted a RED coat. Who’s child is this?

So, we didn’t get any decent pictures but I thought I’d share the few we took. IMG_5997 IMG_5998

Cayson picked his own pumpkin… maybe not the prettiest one… but it was his choice!IMG_6000 IMG_6001 IMG_6002

Our Little Darling

I thought I would post an update on our little darling! We went to the special a couple of weeks ago and they confirmed that we are 100% having a GIRL! Yay! The Lord completely answered prayers and all the items of concern had vanished. Thank you, Lord! I’m scheduled to go back for a follow-up in November with the specialist.

Saturday marked 26 weeks…. only 14 weeks to go! We are still working on names… I’m a bit indecisive and cannot commit to a name. Dusty is waiting for me to make my decision… we’ll let you know what we decide.

Here are a few pictures of our darling…

Cayson-isms

Picture pre-haircut

Cayson is growing and maturing so fast! I can’t believe how observant the child is! He notices EVERYTHING and asks about EVERYTHING. I hear Whodat? (Who was that?), Why?, Whatdat? (What’s that?) all day long.

Some of my favorite phrases are “I otay,” after he falls down… before we can even ask. “I toming” (coming) when I ask him to come here. He says “Tee dat?” (see that?) and “Hey, guys!”  I always giggle when he says “otay” (okay)… reminds me of the Little Rascals.

We’re working hard on potty training and I think it’s coming along. I’ve been sick so it’s been harder to be consistent but he seems to be picking it up. We’re also working on banishing the thumb sucking. The new rule is, he has to go to his bedroom to suck his thumb. This seems to be working as he usually doesn’t want to go to his room just to suck his thumb. The other morning though, he ran to his room and said, “Case tuck my tumb in my woom.” Translation: Cayson suck his thumb in his room.

Cayson is losing some of his affection and cuddly-ness. Guess that comes with maturing… he’s always been the cuddliest little guy… always willing to hug and love on his momma. Now he’s getting his independent streak where he’d rather sit by himself than on momma’s lap.

Speaking of independence, we used to always cuddle  before bed and then carry Cayson to his bed. Now, he insists on walking himself to bed and climbing in on his own. Independence!

He also repeats EVERYTHING. So, watch what you say in front of my child! We are having to be very careful. He was watching football this afternoon with Dusty and said “Dangit!” when there was an incomplete pass. Yep, he picks up on everything. Mom taught him to say, “I’m a redneck!” yesterday… she thinks it’s hilarious. I laughed pretty hard myself.

Cars, cars, cars everywhere!

Cayson is becoming a bit obsessed with his Matchbox cars. His collection includes Dusty’s childhood cars so it’s fun seeing him play with those just like his daddy did. You may also notice his organization tendencies in these pictures… something about lining everything up?  Cayson's Cars 001 Cayson's Cars 003 Cayson's Cars 005 Cayson's Cars 008 Cayson's Cars 010 Cayson's Cars 011 Cayson's Cars 013

Dusty also got his homemade racetrack out for Cayson to play with. This was handmade by Papa when Dusty was young. Cayson has been having a blast with it. Cayson's Cars 016 Cayson's Cars 018
